There was a moderate earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit parts of northwestern Myanmar early today. It damaged 11th century Buddhist temples in Ohn Pwetaw village and Yay Nan Chaung, and no immediate casualities are reported. It was felt in several towns in the northwestern Magway Division.
It rattled the area at just after 2 AM local time with epicenter about 260 miles nortwest of the former capital, City of Yangon (Rangoon).
