"Unexpected error 0xffe2740 occurred" when starting your Internet Informations Services. You may have received this at one time or another if you have SKYPE installed on the same machine as Prolog Website or any other application that requires IIS.

How do you know that this is occurring and how do you fix it?

You'll know it's happening if you boot up your machine and Prolog Website isn't working. If you open your IIS (Administrative Tools in the Control Panel and click on Internet Information Services), you may see that IIS is stopped. If you try to start it, it will error. The error is pretty generic. It means that IIS can't start on Port 80, the default, because something else is bound to it.

Resolution: If SKYPE or some other application is also using port 80, then it is binding to it sooner than IIS can get to it. In SKYPE, you'll need to click on Tools | Options | Set connection Parameters and Proxies and then uncheck "Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections".
In case you want to reproduce this problem, you can
1. Ensure SKYPE is checked to use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections.
2. Close SKYPE and then stop IIS
3. Open SKYPE and then attempt to start IIS

There are several ways to access IIS, but one of the easiest is to:
1. Click on Start
2. Run
3. Type: iisreset and click OK.

Follow the resolution and you'll be fine. If you have another application instead of SKYPE that can use port 80, then you would want to stop that program or service and see if you can start IIS.

I've just fixed an issue on IIS using this resolution.
